Depictions


What grabbed notice in this dead trunk was its near shimmering whiteness in the sun.  Darkening the exposure and 'shadowing' the bright spots got rid of some clipping and made for green/white contrast.  But contrast is not the same as brightness.  Re lighting the bright spots (short of clipping) and brightening the picture back was closer to what was.  Rosco says it's the difference between a painting and a representation.
