Rosco was happy with the cropping and minimal tone and contrast adjustments made in Photoshop to the above picture taken with a Nikon FM manual. Roski thinks film has a softness which digital lacks and which he likes. It's like belly rubs he says. I suggested we try to see what Lightroom would do to the photo, which to my eye had a few spots verging on blown out. In LR it was simple to tone down those light areas and at the same time bring out more contrast. But the changes gave the picture a hard edge. This upset Rosco who now could not make up his mind which of the two he preferred. He said he thinks the second is the better foto but he still preferred the first. And with a look of annoyance, he trotted off, curled up in a crumple of blankets and went to sleep.
